Widodo Pranowo led a hydro-oceanographic survey team called “Indonesian Wallacea Expedition (EWI)” 2004 Leg 1 with the route from Port of Makassar cruise to Bonerate island then continue cruise to Kakabia island and finish in Port of Bau-Bau, using the Phinisi Research Vessel “Cinta Laut”. The research members of the marine survey team are Bagus Hendrajana (marine instrumentation expert), Eko Triarso (marine geology expert), and Ary Widyanto (computer and instrumentation expert). This expedition was held with main sponsorship from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.
The expedition was recorded as a documentary and broadcast on a MetroTV program called EXPEDITION which was divided into 3 episodes broadcast during June – July 2004. The story of the expedition was broadcast as a travel journal on Media Indonesia. The MetroTV reporters who sailed were Edy Prasetyo and Tubagus Deddy, while the Media Indonesia journalist was Bobby Gunawan.
